Peru Surf-Coaching-Trip

14 days of coaching, video analysis and focused progression for solid intermediate to advanced surfers
You already surf well. But you know there is more in it for you.
More control. Better lines. Smarter decisions.
That is exactly what this trip is built for.
Two weeks along the Peruvian coast. With two experienced surf coaches. In a small group of just 5–6 people. Following a route that adapts to the conditions — for good sessions, focused coaching and real progression.
A training trip for anyone who wants to improve their surfing with structure, feedback and plenty of time in the water.
Only 5–6 spots. That keeps the group small enough for personal coaching, direct feedback and well-timed sessions.
Who this trip is for
This trip requires a solid intermediate level and is designed for anyone who wants to work on their surfing in a focused way.
This format is a good fit if you:
- are confident paddling
- can duck dive cleanly
- are comfortable dealing with stronger currents
- want to work on technique, wave selection and decision-making in the line-up
At the heart of the trip are two weeks of plenty of water time, clear coaching and honest feedback — with a focus on progression and the joy of surfing.
To make sure the group is a good fit, your booking is only confirmed after a short personal check-in about your surfing level. It helps if you can send video footage of your current surfing level — either via WhatsApp to WhatsApp an +94 76 817 70 80 or by email to E-Mail an booking@drivethru.de.
Why this trip
This trip brings together three things that matter for real progression: strong waves, clear coaching and a small group..
Peru offers a rare mix of consistency, variety and real training value. Long point breaks create ideal conditions to work on flow, line choice and strategic decisions on the wave. Different reef and point breaks add variety and fresh challenges.
On top of that, the route stays flexible: we surf where swell, wind and tide come together to create the best possible sessions.
Personal coaching throughout the trip
Harold Koechlin is a professional surf coach and experienced Peru surf guide with deep local knowledge of the Peruvian coastline.
Raphael Amsler, better known at drivethru as Raphi, is co-founder of drivethru Surfcamps, an ISA Level 2 surf coach, and brings more than 15 years of international coaching experience.
Both coaches will be with the group throughout the trip.
What that means: more attention in the water, a sharper eye for detail, more direct feedback and more room for individual progression. In a small group, the coaching can be tailored to the conditions, the day and your surfing level.

Possible surf zones along the route
The trip follows the natural swell corridors of the Peruvian coast — from Lima north to Lobitos. Which surf zones we actually head to depends on the conditions on the ground. Depending on the forecast, we may skip certain sections and head straight further north.
South Lima Surf Zone – Punta Hermosa
A possible starting point for the trip, depending on conditions. Here, the focus may be on refining technique, wave selection and positioning.
Possible spots: Caballeros, Señoritas, La Isla, Punta Rocas, Silencio
Northern Coast Road Trip – Chicama & Pacasmayo
Here, the focus shifts more towards point break strategy, flow, endurance and reading long wave systems.
Possible stops: Bermejo, Huanchaco, Chicama, Puemape, Pacasmayo
Lobitos Surf Zone
Towards the end of the trip, the focus may shift more towards performance-oriented surfing, confidence in more powerful waves and further developing your own style.
Possible spots: Lobitos Main Point, Piscinas, Baterías and other nearby points depending on conditions
How the coaching works
This trip is built not only around good waves, but around good coaching too.
Here is what to expect:
- 1–2 coached surf sessions per day
- in-water coaching with direct feedback on positioning
- real-time work on wave selection and line choice
- land-based drills and surf theory when useful
- 6 structured video analysis sessions spread across the trip
- individual adjustments based on conditions, spot and surfing level
The goal is to better understand why something works, where your potential lies and how to work on it with purpose.
